Synthetic Benchmarking of RTX 4090
In terms of performance, the RTX 4090 dominates in synthetic benchmarks, delivering impressive scores in 3DMark Firestrike Ultra and Unigen Heaven. It also performs well in real-world gaming tests, beating out other high-end graphics cards in Borderlands 3, Gears Tactics, Metro Exodus, and Total War 3 Kingdoms.
While the RTX 4090 is a substantial upgrade from its predecessor, the RTX 3090 TI, it’s important to note that doubling the core or Shader counts doesn’t necessarily equate to double the performance. However, the improvement seen in most tests is definitely more than just an incremental upgrade, making the RTX 4090 a real generational leap forward.
Gaming Performance Boost
DLSS technology has come a long way since its early versions. The latest version, DLSS3, is exclusive to the 40 series cards and offers a new feature that generates frames by itself. This feature is achieved by the GPU looking at two sequential frames, calculating the differences between them, and then using its AI to generate a frame in between them. This technology has been tested in Cyberpunk 2077, running at 4K resolution with max settings and including ray tracing. With DLSS enabled and frame generation turned off, the game scored 41.9 FPS. With frame generation on, the score jumped up to 136 frames per second while still looking visually impressive.
How Far Have Nvidia RTX 4090 Specs Evolve from the Previous Generation
However, frame generation introduces a slight trade-off, as it introduces a tiny bit of latency when it inserts those frames into the stream. This latency may be problematic in fast-twitch esports games where every millisecond counts. As for the price, the 4090 is the first to arrive and is the Enthusiast-level card of a brand-new generation. Its performance is impressive, but its value remains to be seen compared to everything else you can buy right now, including the 3090 TI, which launched earlier in 2022.
The retail price of the RTX 4090 was two thousand dollars, although it had dropped to as low as 1100 on sale. As mentioned previously, the RTX 4090 holds a lead of at least 15% and up to 90% over the 3090 TI at 4K. Considering those numbers, a price premium of 45% over the former King does not seem unreasonable.

Conclusion Regarding Nvidia RTX 4090 Specs and Performace
The RTX 4090 is a huge and expensive graphics card that blows the competition out of the water. Currently, it is the only card of this new generation available, so we can only compare it to cards from the past few years. However, until the rest of the pack can catch up, even the price of $1599 does not seem unreasonable for the unrivaled frame rates that this card can produce.
The impressive hardware specs of the RTX 4090 and its DLS S3 AI Wizardry make it capable of cranking out unparalleled frame rates.
